A love letter to Honk, the messaging app Benji Taylor built before Family. Two chat bubbles, no send button, no history, characters appearing as you type them. Not a post-mortem: a catalogue of the small interactions that made it feel like itself.

Thirty-three tiny browser tools for making backgrounds, patterns, posters and textures: dithered landmasses, corrupted satellite mosaics, text-mode terrain maps. Everything runs locally and nothing is uploaded. The index itself is set as a catalogue, which is a nicer joke than most tool directories manage.

Designing Grok Bot for a world of persistent agents [text]
The sidebar stops being a list of chats and becomes a roster of bots you keep. What I keep turning over is how much of the working they chose to show: we stripped the visible reasoning out of our own AI search because it occasionally exposed things it should not, and they went the other way and made the avatar carry the state.

Over a thousand 3D models that are small programs rather than frozen meshes: turn the knobs for colour, proportion and part count, then export to GLB, FBX, USDZ or OBJ. There is an MCP server too, so an agent can assemble a scene out of the same catalogue.

A useDialKit hook that lays live sliders and toggles over a running interface, so animation timing, spacing and colour get tuned in the browser instead of through a recompile. Shaping by feel rather than by number.

A typeface drawn on a dyadic grid built from powers of two, so the coordinates themselves record the design decisions. The grid stops being scaffolding and becomes labelled training data, which is enough for a small model to learn the rules from.
